Making the Most of the Food Truck Trend

Printer-friendly version

Food trucks are all the rage these days. Sure, this isn't exactly a new phenomena but it has exploded in the Twin Cities. Food trucks create a community of their own and you can hire them to cater special events!

For those interested in expanding their culinary horizons, I have two resources that will jump-start your quest for mobile-dining nirvana. The first can be found through the city of St. Paul. They have compiled a comprehensive list of popular trucks along with their Twitter handles and a description of what they offer. This is a great place to start your research, especially if you have dietary restrictions or a less adventurous palate.

Take your addiction a little further by delving into the website MSP Street Food. This site shows who's on the streets in real time, publicizes events where the trucks will be out and has a complete directory of on-the-go cuisine in the Metro area. So convenient!

My current favorites on the street food scene are Anchor Fish & Chips, Foxy Falafel and Hola Arepa. All three offer something special you can't find anywhere else and that is my number one quality a food truck should have- Uniqueness.

On the National Meetings + Events Blog, I have a list of my do's and don'ts of food truck etiquette but I want to hear from you. Which trucks are your favorites? What is on your do's and don'ts list?

Happy dining!
