New Breweries and Tap Rooms Shaking Up the Bar Scene

Printer-friendly version

This week I had the opportunity to get an inside look at Indeed Brewing Company in Northeast Minneapolis, this space is going to be one to watch out for in the coming months. Now it wouldn't be fair if I didn't explain up front that at the moment, they're not renting out their room. However, Indeed is offering tours, easy access to popular food trucks and eventually, will be the primary beer provider for an upstairs event space. There's major potential here.

Indeed opens alongside a few other exciting breweries, taprooms and brew pubs but wait, what's the difference? Let's get into some definitions.

Brewery
The place beer is brewed, pretty basic. They usually hold tours of the facilities that include a sample but not always offer product for purchase outside of merchandise.

Taproom
A bar venue and in most cases, associated with a particular brewery. Sometimes a taproom is attached to a brewery but this isn't always the case. Many offer the ability to rent out their space which are set up for receptions and parties with a lot of movement. A taproom doesn't always carry food.

Brew Pub
Another bar venue typically associated with a particular brewery, these establishments offer a decent sized menu.

For events that require a little bit of a "cool factor," consider this growing trend. Check out the list below for other hot spots around town with great beer and a trendy atmosphere.
