MSAE Women's Leadership Connection: Your 'Wild' Guide to Thrive

Wilderness guide and whitewater instructor Chris Heeter, featured on National Geographic Today, has explored the relevance of whitewater canoeing to life and leadership skills for 27 years. One of the nation’s most influential organizational change theorists and one of the few senior scholar-practitioners in that field, Peter Vaill, describes our current culture as being in "permanent whitewater," constantly navigating a complex, turbulent, and changing environment. With this in mind, we'll explore:

 

  • Plan B: what to do when you find yourself facing backwards in rapids (or on a deadline or in a meeting or with a sales strategy)
  • Positive communication: the finer points and enormous benefits that are often over-looked, inside and out, when navigating around obstacles
