Population: 64,854

Location: Eagan is located between Interstate 694 and Interstate 35. The city is five minutes from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport; 10 minutes from St. Paul; and 15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis.

Transportation: Many hotels have their own shuttles, which transport to and from the airport. Many also shuttle to the Mall of America. Minnesota Valley Transit Authority provides transportation to surrounding areas, including downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, Mall of America and the light rail. Metro Transit bussing is also an option.

Key Contact: Dawn Walz Rough, sales director for the Eagan Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Phone Number: 651.675.5541

The Must-Sees: "The new mall that comes up is unique to our area," says Walz Rough. Called the Twin Cities Premium Outlet, the mall is scheduled to open in August. It will have 100 stores, 440,000 square feet of retail space, a transportation hub, park and nearby restaurant and hotel.

The Conference Centers: There are three conference centers. The Eagan Community Center has 26,950 total square feet, with a ballroom and gym for meetings and events. With 4,400 square feet for banquet facilities, the Lost Spur Golf & Event Center has space for 400 people, while the Royal Cliff Banquet & Conference Center has 600,000 square feet of meeting space.

Restaurants: Axel’s Bonfire, Casper’s Cherokee and the Lone Oak Grill all have meeting and event space. Other restaurants include Doolittles Woodfire Grill, Jensen’s Supper Club, Andiamo and more.

Hotels: The area boasts 15 properties from the Hilton Garden Inn to the Holiday Inn and three Marriott locations.

How the CVB Helps: "We’re a big timesaver," says Walz Rough. "We know our area better than the planner does. When they have a need for our space, we recommend a facility that would fit their accommodations. We’re kind of the unknown right now."
