At the Hilton's 2016 Development Awards, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Downtown was awarded the New Build/Adaptive Reuse of the Year award. HRI Properties, LLC were the developers for the $110 million conversion of the Plymouth Building into the Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Downtown, with hotel design firm The Gettys Group and Design-Builder Ryan Companies US. Inc. collaborating on the project. The Embassy Suites Minneapolis was honored because it met and exceeded the Hilton brand and quality standards while also influencing its community.
Guillermo Veloso has joined the team at Ocean Place Resort and Spa as their new executive chef. Veloso is no stranger to the region, being a New York City and northern Jersey native.
Veloso has an extensive culinary career extending more than 35 years, but he has also spent time as an archaeologist and naturalist. He was the executive chef at Miami’s Yuca Restaurant and has also served as executive chef at Philadelphia’s Cuba Libre and the Please Touch Museum.
Global DMC Partners has announced that five of their members—BBC Destination Management, Corinthian Events, Destination Nashville, Spaintacular and The Destination Manager—are among the finalists for the Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI) Achievement Awards. The Westin Nashville recently announced the appointments of Don Holowiecki as director of finance; Adam Smith as executive meetings manager of sales; Leisa Recabo as social catering manager; and Michael Pisano as conference service manager. On Thursday, June 25, James Howard performed his routine morning cleaning duties on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, when he witnessed a purse snatching.
In that moment, Howard, a General Maintenance employee, shouted at the suspect and then went to help the woman. At that time, he also radioed his crew and supervisor. With his help, two members of the crew—Eddie Cruz and Javier Figueroa—and Wilfredo Cintron, supervisor, helped in the search and arrest of the suspect, as well as recovery of the victim’s purse.
