1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role as head bartender?

Taking Honey & Themes to the Max

Sweet can mean two things: tastes great or stellar experience. There is a lot of sweetness in the U.S. Mountain West and western Canada, but I’ll limit this to talking about the new “Buzzed at Bernardus” experiences at Bernardus Lodge & Spa in Carmel Valley, California.

Gregory Leinweber was recently hired as general manager for Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC.

Radically Different

Radisson RED is “fight[ing] the beige in the hotel industry,” as Richard Flores, vice president branding, Radisson & Radisson Red Hotels at Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, put it. The new hotel concept, with a focus on local art, music and fashion, has completely reengineered and reimagined the traditional hotel design; it is completely redefining the experience from tangibles like aesthetic to intangibles like interaction between guests and staff.

Hop21 Serves up a Stellar Team-Building Activity

The first of its kind in the Twin Cities, Hop21 is a table tennis club and bar that doubles as an ace team-building outing. The 4,500-squarefoot space is fit for 20-125 guests. “Anybody can play; you don’t have to be a super athlete … that’s what’s great about pingpong,” says CEO and Chief Manager Max Vinogradov, a self-deemed pingpong amateur who grew up playing in Russia.

AC Hotel to Open in Downtown Minneapolis

AC Hotel Minneapolis, a Marriott brand hotel, will open to guests in October of this year. The nine-story-hotel will have 245 guest rooms, more than 1,500 square feet of event space and AC Hotel’s signature lounge and bar, library and store.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Marriott to bring a modern lifestyle hotel to Minneapolis,” says Nate Gundrum, director, real estate development at Mortenson. “The new hotel is primed to become a preferred destination and meeting space for the next generation of travelers.”

Vibrant Asbury Park Hotel Will Stun Guests

The dynamic city of Asbury Park, N. J., is set to open a new hotel in spring 2016—the first opening in the area in more than 50 years. 

The Asbury, a product of the real-estate company iStar, combines the Victorian-era history of the era with its vibrant social culture.

The project is a collaboration between David Bowd, known for creating the Salt Hotels brand, and Anda Andrei, iStar’s creative lead for the Asbury Park redevelopment project and the former design director for the Ian Schrager Company. 

Major Facelift For Philly's Ritz Carlton

The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia will undergo a complete transformation later this year.

Architect and interior designer Wimberly Interiors is leading the project for the Avenue of the Arts-located hotel. Renovations include new guest rooms and meeting spaces a refreshed lobby experience and public spaces, and a new restaurant, bar and lounge. The project is slated begin this month and finish in spring 2016.
