Sarah Winters was recently hired as the leisure sales director for the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association.

1. What are you most looking forward to in your new role as the leisure sales director for the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association?

I am most looking forward to the opportunity to educate and create awareness of the North Lake Tahoe area. North Lake Tahoe is the perfect year-round destination for people to create new adventures and explore the outdoors. I am so proud to call North Lake Tahoe home and in working for the association, I will be able to share my passion for the area with the outside community. 

2.  How do you think your past industry experience has prepared you for this role?

I have spent the last several years working for and with companies focused on the improvement of tourism in the North Lake Tahoe area. As an active member of our community, I understand the positive benefits to putting the area on the map as a premier destination, and with my years of hospitality, sales and event planning experience, I have the ability to recognize what it will take to get us there.   

3. What goals do you have in mind for the organization for this year and farther down the line?

As an organization, we are devoted to enhancing tourism and improving opportunities for local businesses to achieve and sustain success. In order to achieve this goal, it is crucial to increase both domestic and international awareness of the North Lake Tahoe region.  One of the goals I have in mind for the organization is to increase awareness of North Lake Tahoe as a year-round destination. In the past, the area has been viewed primarily as a winter destination, which is understandable considering we have some of the most beautiful and well-known ski/snowboard terrain in North America. With that said, there are so many activities you can enjoy during every season. This region has stunning beaches, challenging mountain biking, and more than 60 golf courses. North Lake Tahoe has world-class activities during every season that everybody can relish.

4. How did you get into the industry?
Actually, the travel bug bit me at a very young age and since then, I have made travel high on my priority list. I knew I wanted to integrate my love for travel into a fulfilling career. When I decided to relocate to North Lake Tahoe, the opportunities to grow my career within the tourism industry started popping up. I feel very lucky to be this passionate about what I do.

5. What do you enjoy most about the organization?

Without question, it is working with our local community. This community has so much pride and love for this area, it is infectious.  Pay us a visit and you will understand exactly what I am talking about.

Explore Minnesota Tourism is accepting nominations for the agency’s tourism awards through Jan. 10, 2023. The awards honor people, marketing campaigns, and other initiatives that promote Minnesota as a destination.

To be considered for an award, a form must be submitted for each nomination. 1. What are you looking forward to most in your new role?


As the 13th largest metropolitan economy in the U.S., Minneapolis outperforms its peers, including Kansas City, Denver, Indianapolis and Charlotte when it comes to tourist attractions and hospitality. A vibrant food and music scene, world-class museums and theaters, an influx of upcoming hotels and venues— including a Four Seasons in 2022—and the tourist magnet that is the Mall of America, all combine with the great outdoors where scenic lakes abound—providing visitors to the city with many Instagrammable backdrops for any event.
