Standing in the Emery's lobby, where live greenery thrives and natural light streams in, it's hard to believe that this used to be Hotel Minneapolis. Emery is still an Autograph Collection hotel, like Hotel Minneapolis was, but it is, for all intents and purposes, a new, not just renovated, hotel.
Twin Cities NACE recreated two events from the 2018 NACE Experience conference in Palm Springs, California, for its recap event. Complete with tapestry tones, glitter tattoos and jalapeno margaritas, the night’s opening reception paid homage to the conference’s Coachella theme. The dinner portion riffed on the conference’s closing gala dinner art deco venue: the historic Riviera Palm Springs. Event Lab brought the event to life through décor and design. The name of Minneapolis’ new whiskey commons, Dalton & Wade, comes from characters in the classic Western movie “Road House.”
“The premise for the whole restaurant was to create a place where these two very different characters would want to go if they got together to have a drink,” says Paul Abdo, a founding partner of Dalton & Wade. The building where the commons are housed is the only wood building built recently in Minneapolis and stands out in the warehouse district.
