Minneapolis Convention Center Opened New Craft Bar and Lounge

The Minneapolis Convention Center is home to many things: WEC 2014, cheerleading competitions, job fairs, Northern Spark, and much more. Now, the Minneapolis Convention Center is home to the newest bar in downtown, the Craft Bar and Lounge. The venue, which is located on the balcony of the new Visitor Information Center in the main lobby, was a collaboration between the Minneapolis Convention Center, Kelber Catering, Meet Minneapolis and the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild.

“The Craft Bar and Lounge takes us another step closer to fulfilling our promise as the Relationship Building,” says Jeff Johnson, executive director of the Minneapolis Convention Center in a press release. “The great new space will provide another, more intimate gathering place for our convention attendees and meeting planners. It’s also a perfect place for anyone attending an event at the MCC to stop by for a beverage and something to eat before, during or after the event, after work or on weekends.”

Created to provide meeting planners and guests an alternative place to connect, the space is also available to the public who are welcome to enjoy a pint of beer and a snack. The rotating beverage options highlight some of Minnesota’s most well-known breweries including Fulton, Surly, Bent Paddle, Big Wood, Lift Bridge and Summit, as well as other, full-cocktail options. Kelber Catering created a food menu exclusive to the Craft Bar and Lounge with options such as naan pizzas, braised pork nachos and house fries with a Grain Belt Premium cheese sauce.

The M+E team recently frequented the Craft Bar and Lounge to sample the beer and food offerings and check out the space first hand. We loved the open, relaxed feel of the venue and the prime location inside the Minneapolis Convention Center. Perfect for worn-out dance team moms or new colleagues looking to relax and swap ideas, the Craft Bar and Lounge provides a refreshing and convenient space in downtown Minneapolis.

Tucked in Minneapolis’ Harrison neighborhood lies the latest addition to the city’s craft distilling scene. But unlike other distilleries, newcomer Royal Foundry Craft Spirits (RFCS) is focused on more than stills and spirits; the distillery was designed as an event destination.
