Meet Minneapolis Announces its Hospitality Awards

Meet Minneapolis, Convention and Visitors Association, revealed the winners of its annual awards at the 2017 Meet Minneapolis Annual Meeting on March 2 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. More than 530 partners, elected officials and other guests attended the event. Meet Minneapolis highlighted a milestone year for hospitality in Minneapolis and unveiled the city’s first-ever tourism master plan, Destination Transformation 2030.

Hyatt Regency Minneapolis’ Samson Desta Earns a Meet Minneapolis Hospitality Hero Award

Samson Desta, a room service attendant for the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, was awarded the Hospitality Hero award by Meet Minneapolis Convention and Visitors Association. The award is given out quarterly to members of the Minneapolis hospitality community who are nominated by their colleagues.

“Desta embodies authentic hospitality and is a great ambassador for Hyatt and for Minneapolis," says Vince Vito, director of sales and marketing.

Speakeasy Announces New Menu in Northeast Minneapolis

Stem, a speakeasy located in Northeast Minneapolis, has introduced a new menu that will include small lot wines, craft cocktails, artisan beer and appetizers.

“The neighborhood in Northeast Minneapolis is known for its beer,” says Ivy Taheri, owner. “We wanted a place where people can socialize and be comfortable in an upbeat atmosphere. We can’t wait to surprise our guests with unique wines from around the world, craft cocktail creations and fun events to suit everyone’s needs.”

Event Snapshots: ILEA-MSP Talks Super Bowl LII at U.S. Bank Stadium

International Live Events Association (ILEA-MSP) met at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sept. 29 for networking, lunch, a tour of the stadium and an address from Maureen Bausch, CEO of the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee. Attendees learned about the different ways to get involved in the 10-day Bold North Festival that will lead up to Super Bowl LII.

New Bloomington is a Force to be Reckoned With

Sure, it’s Minneapolis that has the Super Bowl coming to U.S. Bank Stadium in 2018. But what some might overlook is the group effort that went into acquiring the national event—and Bloomington’s role in particular. “We were an intricate part of [the Super Bowl bid]; a very, very key factor,” says Bonnie Carlson, president and CEO, Bloomington Convention & Visitors Bureau.

New Seasonal Items Launch at Sprout Salads

It’s the new year, and the Twin Cities are filled with new resolutions, many of which may sound like the following: “I’m going to start eating healthier. I’m going to eat more salads.” Well, if you’re anything like me, creating a salad that substantially qualifies as a meal always begins as a hopeful process but somehow results in a dejected bowl of limp foliage smeared with, you guessed it, ranch. Such consistent salad failures are why I jumped at the opportunity to sample Sprout Salad’s new seasonal menu.
