This week, hundreds of local young professionals will have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to escape the stresses and responsibilities of their day to day lives, no paid time off or carry-on needed. For those strapped with all-too-common student loan debt, SoFi, a national personal financial services agency focused in lending and wealth management, will be hosting Debt after Dark—on them.

The unique event, held at Aria in downtown Minneapolis this Thursday, July 12, will offer those with student loans a night to forget their worries, relax and indulge. With proof of student loan payments (including a screenshot or paper statement with your loan balance) attendees can enjoy free cocktails, appetizers and desserts, a 360-degree photo booth, live DJ, special guest performances, aerial bartenders and giveaways

But why host an extravagant free event for those under financial pressure? “Student loan debt has surpassed $1.5 trillion in America, and there is a stigma attached to it that leaves people feeling alone in their struggles,” says Libby Leffler, SoFi’s vice president of membership. Debt After Dark will “bring together hundreds of ambitious young professionals who have student loan debt in the Twin Cities for a night. We want to celebrate the fact that they have invested in their future at absolutely no cost to them for once!”

SoFi works to empower those in debt to reach their financial goals while recognizing the positive investments they’ve already made. “At SoFi, we serve the driven,” Leffler says. “Many young professionals who have worked hard to invest in their future can’t afford a night out because of the burden of their student loan debt. We want to give them a night off on us where they can connect with other ambitious professionals and enjoy a night out.”

And what better reason could there be for a night out to celebrate than toast to your future success? Cheers!

Standing in the Emery's lobby, where live greenery thrives and natural light streams in, it's hard to believe that this used to be Hotel Minneapolis. Emery is still an Autograph Collection hotel, like Hotel Minneapolis was, but it is, for all intents and purposes, a new, not just renovated, hotel.

The Emery Hotel recently opened its doors to guests, just in time for visitors of the NCAA Final Four tournament. Originally Midland Bank, the building was constructed in 1906, and the new hotel space is fully embracing its rich history.

If the on-the-edge-of-your-seat basketball games or endless events around Minneapolis aren't enough to keep you interested in the NCAA Final Four tournament this weekend, the newly announced menu items sure will be. U.S. Bank Stadium's food and beverage provider, Aramark, just released its Final Four menu, and it's delicious enough to turn anyone into a basketball fan.
