• Surly Brewing Company's Ty Rushmeyer Earns Meet Minneapolis' Hospitality Hero Award

Surly Brewing Company tour coordinator Ty Rushmeyer has been named the winner of Meet Minneapolis' Hospitality Hero award for the second quarter of 2019. The award is given quarterly to a member of the Minneapolis hospitality community who has been nominated by their colleagues and has made valuable contributions to the image and culture of Minneapolis through outstanding hospitality and service.

Nominated by Andrea Graham, senior brand experience manager of Surly, Rushmeyer earned the award for his willingness to help out, ability to tackle new challenges and reliability.

"He’s been with Surly for four years, and in that time he has expanded our tour program to include private group tours, old school tours of our original brewery space, and ASL guided tours for the local ASL community," Graham says.

Graham says Rushmeyer's dedication to the tour program has allowed it to progress with the company's evolution. "He’s so passionate about telling the Surly story as authentically as possible and that shines through in every detail of the Surly tours program. He emulates all of the priorities outlined in the Hospitality Hero guidelines," she says.

When they built the destination brewery, Graham says they wanted to create a space that offered many different opportunities to connect with Surly, and telling the story of where they came from and where they're headed is a top priority of those experiences. "Ty is passionate about all things Surly, our local industry, and the city of Minneapolis. The synergy between Ty’s passion and Surly’s mission radiates during his tours," she adds.

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, most people are working from home. Many are social distancing or quarantining with their children, who have transitioned to online classes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sunday recommended that all gatherings of more than 50 people be cancelled or postponed for the next eight weeks, in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The recommendation covers events like parades, concerts, festivals, conferences, sporting events, weddings and more.

 

Gone without regional and national recognition, over the years the City of Roseville has been overlooked and even mistaken for being somewhere in St. Paul. In 2016, the Visit Roseville partnered with DestinationNext to strategically plan and determine priorities for Visit Roseville to pursue in the future to receive more recognition. After taking a self-assessment using an online diagnostic toolkit, Visit Roseville was able to establish a course of action.
